Nomadic Awarded Gold Effie for Resident Evil Village Social Activation
Nomadic took home the gold at the 2022 Effie Awards for their multi-layered, social media activation campaign, “Resident Evil Village: The Merchant’s Quest.”
The campaign, created to promote the launch of the latest Capcom title, Resident Evil Village, marketed the game more like a movie—focusing on its rich narrative to broaden its appeal among action-adventure gamers who crave story-driven entertainment.
Using the premise of folkloric villains, game footage, and custom animations, the campaign included a series of more than 90 targeted online videos and an immersive Reddit activation called The Merchant’s Quest. This week-long alternate reality game invited Reddit users to work together to solve clues similar to those used in the game. Reddit served as the hub, as clues were hidden in images, videos, audio, and other multimedia in promoted and organic content. The campaign garnered more than 68K views in just ten days.
